Nick Hunter’s love for learning led him to a career in
engineering.
“I was always looking over the next fence to see what I can
learn, and one of those fences was research and development,” Nick says. “I
found there was more than just equipment, there was a whole science to how it
works and the best opportunities for the equipment’s success. In the research
and development group, I saw the future I wanted to be in.”
As the instrumentation and electrical reliability leader at our
Fort Dodge, Iowa plant, Nick sees the continuous growth and change in the
industry. Although the equipment continues to improve, the big change is in the
data it provides.
“It’s not just about a reading from a screen, it’s about
what the reading means,” Nick says. “A simple number can save hours of work,
prevent equipment failures or provide a reading to prevent unsafe data
collection.”
Nick analyzes the data and shares his learnings with his
team and watches them apply it in the field. He says seeing the Koch culture
and guiding principles applied through his team and watching them succeed is
most fulfilling.
